As the second largest city in Northern Ireland, Londonderry, or simply Derry, is well served by air services. The city has one airport, the City of Derry Airport, which is conveniently located close to the centre. Although small, the airport sees a number of daily flights arrive from various UK cities including London, Glasgow and Manchester.

Which is the main airport in Londonderry?

All flights to Londonderry arrive at the City of Derry airport which is located 7 miles northeast of the city centre, close to the village of Eglinton. Previously an RAF station,  locals sometimes refer to it as Eglinton Airport. The airport is linked to the city centre most quickly via taxi, with numerous cars waiting at the rank outside the arrivals hall at every flight arrival. There is also a bus service from Ulsterbus connecting the airport to the city centre, which departs around five times per day and takes 30 minutes to reach the Derry bus station.

Daily flights to Londonderry are operated by two major budget airline companies. This include the Scottish-owned airline Loganair and the Irish-owned airline Ryanair. Loganair operates services from three UK airports – London Stansted, Manchester and Glasgow – whilst Ryanair operates services from Edinburgh and Liverpool.

If time is against you, the easiest way to see all the sites in the actual city, is to take a mile-long walk around Derry's well preserved 17th-century walls.
