Harrogate Bus Station is situated in the centre of the town, next to the railway station. It is served by a range of companies providing services to local and national destinations. Located 2.7 kilometres from the High Street, it's accessible by foot or taxi, as well by bus. The main company operating from the bus station is TransDev, which provides services to Harrogate from local destinations, such as Knaresborough, Wetherby, Leeds and Ripon. Connexionsbuses operates buses to the town from York, Ilkley, Otley and other nearby towns and cities. West Yorkshire Metro provides services between Harrogate and Leeds Bradford Airport, as does Yorkshire Tiger, which also offers links from Leeds, Bradford, Shipley and other local destinations. National Express runs coaches to the town from cities such as Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Manchester, Chester, Middlesbrough and London.
Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Harrogate became known for its spa waters during the Georgian era.
