The trains that operate the route between Florence and Siena are the slightly slower regional trains designed for longer distances within a specific region. These trains can reach a speed of 160 km/h. The routes offered here are one of three. You can travel directly on a regional train from Santa Maria Novella station to Siena station or you can choose a connecting train that departs from either Florence Rifredi or Santa Maria Novella. Direct trains are usually the fastest option available, but the average time for all trains between these destinations is around 1h 40min.
When travelling on a Trenitalia train between Florence and Siena, you'll be able to choose between first and second class. You'll have the same luggage regulations for both, one large bag and your hand luggage. First_class gives you access to spacious and more comfortable seating, additional legroom, free WiFi, charging stations for your devices, a foldable table at your seat, and food and beverage when available.
