Rome to Capri train information with Italo:
Travelling by train from the ancient capital city of Rome to the beautiful island of Capri isn't all that straightforward, but the scenic attractions along the way make it worthwhile. There's no direct, inclusive service taking passengers all the way from A to B. Instead trains go to various picturesque coastal destinations, from where travellers can use local transport to head to one of the two main ferry ports servicing the island.
Italo offers by far the fastest service, with just one change. Frecciargento, Frecciarossa and Regionale all put on slow trains involving several transfers.
The rail part of the journey between Rome and Capri can be accomplished in as little as 1 hour 45 minutes, although a few trains take as long as 4 and a half hours. However, travellers should expect to add another hour to 90 minutes for the completion of the trip.
Around 8 trains a day travel between Rome and Capri. Most are clustered around breakfast time, (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.), with a final departure just after noon. All but two are slow trains.
