Advantages
IconFast connection
IconOften available despite strikes
IconFavourable
Disadvantages
IconUsually very busy, especially at commuter times
IconNot very clean
IconOften a few minutes late
This is a direct connection that is more frequently travelled and cheaper than the similar Rheine-Osnabrück route. In order for a BahnCard to be valid, it is advisable to replace the Rheine station with Salzbergen, i.e. to only travel from / to Rheine, but to book from / to Salzbergen, then the discount will work. The trains are full to capacity, so the air is often stuffy and you sometimes have to stand for almost the entire journey. However, this is mainly the case during commuting times. It is usually quite noisy and if you can, avoid using the toilet, as they are not always clean and very cramped. It is hardly possible to take luggage into the WC. However, the conductors are mostly nice. There are often a few extra minutes on the route. All in all, a very good alternative to travelling by car.
