Roma Termini Station
This central station located in Italy’s capital of Rome is not only the busiest station in the country but also one of the busiest in Europe seeing over 150 million passengers annually. The station has 29 platforms and is also a main hub for the city’s public transit. It is named after the ancient Baths of Diocletian and provides high-speed, intercity and regional trains to most of the main cities in Italy as well as long-distance and overnight trains to Paris, Geneva, Munich, and Vienna. Milan Central Station
The Central Station in Milan is another one of Europe’s busiest with about 320,000 passengers and 500 trains daily. International trains are also available to Bern, Barcelona, Paris, Munich and Zürich. Torino Porta Nuova Station
The main train station of Turin is the third busiest in Italy with around 70 million passengers annually. High-speed trains from between Turin and Milan make it a popular route as well as trains travelling to Venice, Rome and Naples. There are no international trains departing from this station. Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station
This main station in Florence is also a particularly busy station in Italy, providing travel for around 59 million passengers per year. High-speed train services are available to Bologna and Rome, as well as regional services to Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, Viareggio and Faenza. Venezia Santa Lucia Station
Located near the western end of the Grand Canal in Venice, the Venezia Santa Lucia Station is one of the two main stations servicing the city. High-speed trains to Milan, Rome, Verona and Turin are available from here as well as regional trains to Verona, Triest, and Bassano del Grappa. There are a number of night trains and long-distance services, including the Venice-Simplon Orient Express which has select journeys to London Victoria, calling at Verona, Innsbruck, Munich and Paris.
