On it, you’ll also find the Forte de Sao Miguel Acenjo Museum for surfing where you can see a collection of surfboards from all eras, the battlements at the top offer stunning views of the beach area. If you are here in the winter, this is where you can witness some of the largest waves in the world, channelled through the Nazare Canyon, one of Europe’s largest under water canyons, they reach highs of 30 metres.
