About Murcia
Murcia is known as La Huerta de Murcia or the Orchard of Murcia, a region well known for producing abundant supplies of fruit, vegetables and olives. Murcia city is the region's capital, which boasts Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style architecture. Murcia is a vibrant University City with plenty of restaurants and bars offering many gastronomic tapas delights local to the area.

Getting to Murcia
Murcia is served by San Javier Airport, which lies between the three main cities of the region Murcia, Torrevieja and Cartagena. A shuttle bus service runs throughout the day from outside the airport terminal building and travels directly to the city of Murcia in 35 minutes. Local bus companies, AL SA and LatBus also stop at the airport. Murcia train station lies 10 kilometres north of the airport and is a short taxi or bus journey.

Car
Visitors travelling to Murcia will want to see as much of the region as possible and hiring a car would be a good way of ensuring nothing is missed. Car hire allows freedom and flexibility to visit the miles of sandy beaches of the Costa Calida and the surrounding countryside of the region.

Places to Visit
St. Mary's Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saint Mary in Murcia is one of the most popular attractions to visit in the region. Construction began in the fourteenth century and combines various styles of architecture. The Renaissance tower of the cathedral is the main attraction, which replaced the medieval tower that was there before.
The Roman Theatre
The Roman theatre in Cartagena dates from the centuries I and V B.C. Its proper function was preserved until the third century. Later, the theatre became buried, and was later discovered in 1988, the remains of which can be seen at the site.
Batería de Castillitos
The battery Castillitos is a fortification located at Cape Tiñoso in the municipality of Cartagena. The structure, built as a medieval castle, and its location at 250 meters high, makes it an attractive place to visit for a view of the region of Murcia.
