Your Guide to Ibiza
Ibiza is a popular island in the Mediterranean sea which attracts a variety of tourists. It is best known as the ‘party island’ because of the huge number of large nightclubs on offer in lively resorts like Playa d'en Bossa and San Antonio. However, it also has a rich cultural history, and many heritage sites, like Dalt Vila in Ibiza Old Town, are stunning examples of Gothic Catalan architecture.

About Ibiza
Ibiza has many stunning beaches, some relaxed like Cala Salada and some more crowded like Cala Conta. In most places there are many opportunities to take part in water sports like diving, jet skiing and surfing. For shoppers, Ibiza has a popular Hippy Market selling all types of ethics goods, whilst for clubbers, world famous venues like Pacha, Space and Amnesia provide an unmissable late-night experience. The island has many restaurants and these cover a variety of world cuisines.

Ibiza has a pleasant climate all year round, the warmest months are July and August.
Language
The official language of Ibiza is Catalan.
Getting to Ibiza
Most people travelling to Ibiza arrive at Ibiza Airport, it is a 10 minute drive from Ibiza Town. There is a local bus service operated by the Ibiza Bus Company which links it to other parts of the island. This runs between 7am and 10pm. Alternatively visitors can take a taxi or hire a car when travelling to and from the airport.
How to Get Around Ibiza
Visitors can get around on buses and many routes span the island. Another option is to travel by taxi or rent a car, this is very popular with tourists, as the island has an excellent road system. In larger towns and beaches there are many car parks, enabling visitors to leave their car and explore on foot.
Places to Visit
Ibiza Cathedral
For history fans, the Castle of Ibiza, located in the Ibiza old town, provides the perfect opportunity to walk amongst architectural examples of the island's heritage. There are narrow lanes, interesting shops and an amazing view from the top.
The Caves
For another stunning vista, especially at sunrise or sunset, the mysterious rock formation known as Es Vedra is worth a visit. It sits at 400m high and can be found off the island's west cost, near Cala d’Hort. Beneath the island are a network of caves known as the Cova de Can Marca, visitors can take a guided tour and see the numerous stalagmites and stalactites which formed there over millennia.
Ibiza Castle
Although they have found remains of earlier times, the present building dates from the sixteenth and eighteenth century. The complex is classified as Cultural Heritage site and boast some stunning views over the sea.

Night Life
For decades Ibiza has been one of the world capitals of night life. Dozens of nightclubs, some famous around the world, give life and personality to the island. Three of the best areas are the Port of Ibiza, Playa d'en Bossa and San Antonio.
Mountain Biking
Besides the beaches Ibiza offers a beautiful natural landscape. One of the best ways to see it is on two wheels. Marked trails and places where you can rent bikes can be found throughout the island of Ibiza.
Diving
Ibiza is a perfect island to explore the seabed due to its crystal clear waters. Throughout the island you can find numerous diving schools to learn how to dive, or rent equipment.
Events
Carnival
In February, the Carnival takes over Ibiza town to celebrate the end of winter and the arrive of spring, locals wear fancy dress and march through the streets, then party into the early hours with tourists.
Eivissa Medieval Festival
At Dalt Vila the Eivissa Medieval Festival happens in May, bringing together dancers, snake charmers and performers from across the island to mark the areas UNESCO World Heritage site status.
The Earth Festival
The Earth Festival is held in August, to honour Saint Mary, Saint Salvador and Saint Ciriac, three of the islands saints. Visitors can watch firework shows, listen to live music and indulge in the annual celebratory feast.
