About
Pentland Ferries is a privately owned, family-run company operating ferry services between Gills Bay in Caithness and St Margaret's Hope on South Ronaldsay in Orkney since May 2001. The company transports approximately 150,000 people annually and is one of only two major vehicle ferry operators in Scotland not subsidised by the Scottish Government or local authorities. Pentland Ferries is committed to environmental sustainability, operating the MV Alfred, which is more than 60% more efficient in terms of fuel consumption and emission levels than other comparable ferries operating in Scotland.
