About
Elbferry GmbH & Co. KG was a ferry operator in Germany, established in 2021 to provide crossings between Brunsbüttel and Cuxhaven across the Elbe River. The company utilized the Greenferry I, a 130-meter-long vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), capable of transporting 150 cars, 28 trucks, and up to 600 passengers. The ferry operated at three-hour intervals, completing the 32-kilometer route in approximately one hour. Despite its innovative approach, Elbferry ceased operations in December 2021 and filed for insolvency in November 2021.
