Almeria is a city on the Mediterranean Sea, with links to many other major cities in the south-west of Spain. The airport is located approximately 9 km east of Almeria city centre. Five airlines operate flights to Almeria from locations in the United Kingdom: easyJet, Monarch, Ryanair and Thomson Airways. EasyJet offers regular flights from London Gatwick while Thomson Airways offer regularly scheduled flights from Birmingham and Manchester. Seasonal flights to Almeria from select locations are available from Monarch and Ryanair. The airport can be accessed by the A7 via a dual carriage-way which links Almeria to many other large cities including Barcelona, Marbella and Valencia. Car rental companies and a number of taxis can also be found at the airport. Bus number 20 regularly plies the route between the city centre and the airport.
