While not a huge fan of Julia Quinn\u2019s novels, I still appreciated certain characters (I am looking at you Kate and Penelope!) and their witty rejoinders. Season One was a day-long binge during the Christmas season of 2020 when my blue velvet sofa was as far as I travelled because of COVID protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fast forward a year later, and anticipation is brewing for \u201cBridgerton\u201d Season Two. Like the book series, the second season is focused on Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest son of the clan, and his enemy-turned-lover Kate Sharma, ne\u00e9 Sheffield. The first season was awash in pastel colours, lavish gowns, textiles handmade in India and erotic imagery. While I would have much preferred seeing Mary Balogh\u2019s more heartfelt \u201cSlightly\u201d series get the small screen treatment (who can\u2019t adore honourable Wulfric, the Duke of Bewcastle?), I nevertheless enjoyed the diverse nature of Shondaland\u2019s retelling of the \u201cBridgerton\u201d books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we await the second season\u2019s arrival, dear reader, you can live out your \u201cBridgerton\u201d fantasy at these romantic locations (and yes, they\u2019re all in the United Kingdom), some of which were filming locations for the series as well as other Regency-era dramas including the much-loved 1995 BBC adaptation of \u201cPride and Prejudice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Regency romances are often set in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omio.co.uk\/trains\/london?utm=source_omio-magazine&amp;utm_medium=magazine&amp;utm_campaign=January&amp;utm_content=BridgertonSites&amp;utm_term=UK_TrainsLondon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">London<\/a>, with the mansions of Mayfair playing centre stage. During the Napoleonic Era, Mayfair housed the upper echelons of society\u2014nearly 70% of the first tenants were titled\u2014far removed from the slums of St. Giles and Whitechapel. Head to Grosvenor Square, the second-largest garden oasis in London, which dates back to 1726. But it\u2019s at Wilton House, home of the Earls of Pembroke since the 16th century, that many a modern adaptation of a historical novel has been set. Guests can visit the estate starting in Easter with access to interiors such as the portrait gallery featuring Van Dykes and Rubens and 17th-century staterooms as well as the grounds, which comprise 14,500 acres of resplendent land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"30637\" src=\"http:\/\/www.omio.co.uk\/window-seat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Wilton-House2_shutterstosck-1024x536.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30637\"\/><figcaption>Wilton House has appeared in numerous productions including a variety of Jane Austen\u2019s works. That crown goes to \u201cPride and Prejudice,\u201d Jane Austen\u2019s iconic tome about love, marriage and money during the Peninsular Wars. While many will debate which film version of the book is the best (my vote goes to the Jennifer Ehle\/Colin Firth adaption), few will argue about Pemberley\u2019s significance in prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet&#8217;s about-face towards proud Mr Darcy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-7 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"30643\" src=\"http:\/\/www.omio.co.uk\/window-seat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Lyme-Park_front_shutterstock-1024x647.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30643\"\/><figcaption>The estate at Lyme Park should look familiar to anyone who is a fan of the 1995 BBC Adaptation of \u201cPride and Prejudice.\u201d Credit: Shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Austen describes the estate as \u201ca large, handsome, stone building, standing well on rising ground, and backed by a ridge of high woody hills\u2026Its banks were neither formal nor falsely adorned.\u201d The estate at Lyme Park south of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omio.co.uk\/trains\/morpeth\/disley?utm=source_omio-magazine&amp;utm_medium=magazine&amp;utm_campaign=January&amp;utm_content=BridgertonSites&amp;utm_term=US_TrainsDisley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Disley<\/a> can surely be described the same way. The Elizabethan mansion, operated by the United Kingdom\u2019s National Trust, doubled as the expansive and ornate Pemberley in the 1995 adaptation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"search-widget-overlay\" class=\"search-widget-overlay\">\r\n  <div class=\"search-widget-overlay__form\" data-search-widget-container>\r\n    <div class=\"search-widget-overlay__details\">\r\n      <button class=\"search-widget-overlay__close\" data-search-widget-close>\r\n        \u2715\r\n      <\/button>\r\n      <div class=\"search-widget-overlay__text\">\r\n        Disley      <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n\r\n  <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"search-widget-cta\">\r\n  <button class=\"search-widget-cta__button\" data-search-widget-cta>\r\n    Tickets to Disley  <\/button>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With grounds that beckon and delight, and interiors, such as the Knight\u2019s Bedroom boasting secret passageways, Lyme Park is a favourite among Regency fanatics. Tour the expansive estate and follow it up with an afternoon tea at the Salting Room.
