Daily direct buses to Stockholm from Gothenburg are operated by Flixbus and NettBuss and take between six and seven hours. Departures are spread throughout the day from early morning until late evening. Buses depart from either the Nils Ericson Terminalen or the Korsvagen Bus Stop. Routes terminate at Stockholm's Cityterminalen. This is part of Stockholm Central Railway Station and 20 minutes' walk from the attractions of the Old Town. There are also taxis, local buses, and Metro trains. Station facilities include left luggage storage, waiting areas, toilets, tourist information, shops, and restaurants. For those with limited mobility, there is step-free access to all areas.

The direct train journey to Stockholm from Gothenburg takes between three and five hours on routes operated by SJ Trains and MTR Express.
