Getting to Antwerp from Amsterdam is simple and fast, with excellent bus and train services for travellers to choose from. Buses can take 2-3 hours and Thalys trains are often even faster, allowing travellers to be at Antwerp Centraal in little over an hour. There are even flights via Brussels if you prefer to travel by plane, although the total journey time will almost always be longer than buses or trains.
Return journeys from Antwerp to Amsterdam are also available.
There are plenty of direct bus connections to Antwerp from Amsterdam, with companies including Flixbus, Infobus, Megabus and Ouibus. The journey takes around 2 hours 30 minutes in most cases, though this can rise to almost 4 hours, so check the schedule. Buses leave from Sloterdijk Station and usually arrive at Plantinkaai next to the river Scheldt near the centre of town.
Rail services between the Dutch capital and Antwerp are provided by NS International and Thalys, and there are at least three departures every hour, 7 days a week. Thalys trains can take as little as 1 hour 15 minutes, but others can take almost 3 hours to reach Antwerp. All of them depart from Amsterdam Centraal and arrive at Antwerp Centraal, a convenient place to start exploring the city centre. All trains travel direct to Antwerp, and no changes are needed.
