Cons
IconAnnouncements too quiet/unintelligible
IconBoard bistro closed for the entire journey
From Berlin to Vienna, no on-board bistro was open, so I could not redeem my voucher. Announcements also did not work on the journey or were too quiet. However, the staff were helpful and assured me that there would be an opportunity to redeem it on the return journey. The train itself had been fine in terms of cleanliness, equipment and comfort. The train had been delayed in the meantime, but due to the long waiting times at the stations, it quickly got out of it, so that the train arrived at its destination and final station on time.

The departure of the ICE from Berlin Hbf to Vienna Hbf was on time, so a positive start to the journey. The journey was pleasant, with a power socket available at the seat. It took a total of 7 hours and 40 minutes, with 11 stops along the way. There were no major delays during the journey, so we arrived at Vienna Central Station as planned. I find it very unfortunate that the train journey is significantly more expensive than a plane ticket.

The value for money aspect of train travel from Berlin to Vienna is definitely positive. Ticket prices are generally affordable and reasonable, especially considering that it is a longer route. There are also various ticket options to suit individual needs, such as seat reservations and train classes. The punctuality of the trains was impressive during my trip. The trains almost always departed on schedule and also arrived at the destination stations almost on time. This made for a stress-free and well-planned journey where I did not have to worry about delays. The service during the train journey was also satisfactory. The train staff were friendly and helpful and were available to answer any questions or concerns. However, the food was more a means to an end than enjoyment. The comfort of the trains on this route was pleasant. The seats were adequately padded and offered sufficient legroom. The carriages were clean and well maintained. There were also facilities to buy snacks and drinks on board to enable passengers to have a pleasant meal during the journey. The facilities on the trains were of a satisfactory standard. There were power sockets at the seats to charge electronic devices and free wifi connections to stay online during the journey.

A very relaxed journey. The train arrived on time and we had no problems the whole way. It was very comfortable and I felt at ease throughout the journey. You could reserve your seat online, but also on the spot, which is very convenient. The staff was really friendly, everyone was smiling. In terms of cleanliness, the train was really very clean, even though there were a lot of people.

My journey from Berlin to Vienna was pretty good overall. The price-performance ratio was surprisingly good. The price was well justified for the long distance in my opinion. The staff were very friendly, polite and respectful to their guests. I felt well taken care of as the staff always had a big smile on their face and clarified things when needed. In addition, the wifi was efficient, stable and fast. There were also only a few transfers, which made the journey much easier. However, the train did not arrive in Vienna on time. Disappointingly, the hygiene was poor. The toilets and seats were not clean and hygienic. The noise level was also inadequate. But overall it was a good journey!
