Both these services run direct, with a journey time of around two and a half hours. There is one other service that leaves Newcastle upon Tyne at 10:30 am; this service has one change and has a journey time of four and a half hours. These services run throughout the week and weekend and are provided by National Express.
The coach station in Newcastle upon Tyne is located on Churchill St, off St James Boulevard, in the centre of the city. It is located just a few minutes walk from Newcastle train station, and is open 24 hours a day. Taxi ranks can be found outside the station, and buses run to the station throughout the day and evening. Westmorland Rd-Clayton St West is another bus stop that is 2 minutes walk from the coach station.
York is a beautiful city, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. It is famous for its cathedral - the tallest in western Europe- as well as its Roman and Viking history. National Express coaches from Newcastle upon Tyne arrive outside York train station. From the station it is a 5-10 minute walk to the city centre. Buses to the city centre run from outside the station, departing from early in the morning to late in the evening. There is a taxi rank outside the station that continues to serve the station throughout the night.
