Dubrovnik to Split coach information with FlixBus:
A 142 mile stretch of coastline separates Dubrovnik and Split, two of Croatia's most beautiful cities. Although departures are limited to two or three times a day, passengers can take advantage of a choice of three bus companies, and bus stations are well placed for historic sites and access to the sea.
The quickest bus from Dubrovnik to Split takes about 4 hours and the slowest is only about 40 minutes more, with most buses clocking in at around 4 hours 20 minutes. Five of the eight daily buses are direct, but these actually take longer than the indirect services.
There are 8 departures a day between Dubrovnik and Split. However, several of these occupy the same time slots. Generally, there are two or three departures around 8:00 a.m. (the first departures of the day) and several more around noon. This leaves a few buses departing in mid-afternoon and late evening, with the last bus around 9:00 p.m.
Departure bus station: Coaches by all operators depart from the main bus station. This is adjacent to the harbour ferry terminal, and about 1 mile from the old town. It has a general store, newsagents, cash machine, tourist information kiosk, and a supermarket just a few steps away. Buses 1a and 1b connect the station to the historic centre, and bus 7 goes to Lapad beach.
Arrival bus station: All services terminate at Split Main Bus Station on the northwestern corner of the Old Town's surrounding walls and a 100 meters or so from the Riva, Split's glittering waterfront esplanade. Although the station itself doesn't have a great deal in the way of facilities, there are water kiosks and cash machines outside and a wide choice of eateries and cafes in the immediate vicinity.
Three operators provide services between Dubrovnik and Split: Arriva, Croatia Bus and Eurolines. Of these, the latter two require passengers to change buses on some services, but they also make the quickest times, speeding along the coast in about 4 hours. With Arriva, you don't have the hassle of shifting your luggage from one vehicle to another, but the trip lasts about 40 minutes longer.
Arriva operates two departures a day, one in the morning around breakfast and one in the mid-afternoon. Although both services are direct, their journey times are the most leisurely of all the available buses at around 4 hours 40 minutes.
Croatia Bus lays on three departures a day, two at the same times as Arriva buses, with the addition of a late bus around 9:00 pm. The two earlier buses require a change but complete their journeys in around 4 hours, while the late bus is direct but takes about a quarter of an hour longer.
Eurolines follows much the same pattern as Croatia Bus and similar times too. Of its three daily departures, only the afternoon one requires a change.
With Eurolines, you can buy a semi-refundable ticket where you get up to 50% back if you change your mind about your journey. Passengers can take two pieces of hand luggage free of charge, but may have to pay a fee for heavier items. Unfortunately, bikes and pets can't be accommodated, except guide dogs and therapy dogs. By law, the line won't refuse to take passengers on grounds of disability, but it's wise to phone ahead.
Standard fare only is available on Croatia Bus. You can bring on board two pieces of hand luggage for free, but you'll be charged a "dispatch fee" in cash for more substantial suitcases and rucksacks. Bikes may be allowed depending on how crowded the particular service is, for a 40 KN charge. Guide dogs are the only animals permitted. All coach services conform to EU rules meaning they have to make accommodations for passengers with disabilities.
Arriva offers a non-refundable standard fare. For a 10 KN fee, you can take two suitcases or backpacks weighing up to 25 kg each, as well as several smaller items of hand luggage of the type that can be stowed above or below your seat. Other large items such as bikes may be allowed for an extra fee if space permits. As an operator across the EU, Arriva abides by regulations allowing guide dogs on board, as well as making arrangements for those with disabilities.
Passengers board the coach most frequently from Dubrovnik, Autobusni kolodvor, which is located around 1.5 miles (2.4 km) away from the city centre, and they get off the coach at Split, Autobusni Kolodvor, located 0.9 miles (1.5 km) away from the city centre.
