Travel from Valencia city centre to Valencia Airport

Valencia is Spain's third largest city, an attractive and historic Mediterranean metropolis and the place that gave the world paella, a dish that is traditionally only eaten in daytime. Valencia Airport offers domestic and international flights, with routes to around 20 European destinations, serving as a hub for visitors to the resorts of the Costa Blanca and Costa del Azahar. travellers heading out to Valencia airport from the city centre can use Valencia's reliable low-cost subway system, with frequent trains making the short trip to the terminal. A dedicated coach route also offers connections from downtown. Passengers in  a hurry can opt for a taxi journey, which are notably more costly but can save ten minutes on the trip to the airport.

What's the best way to get to the airport from the city centre?

There are two routes on the Metrovalencia Underground rail network, on lines number 3 and 5, linking stops in the city centre with Valencia Airport. Services operate from early morning to around midnight seven days a week, with departures roughly every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes at weekends. The city Metrocoach route 150  provides coach connections from the city centre to Valencia Airport from Monday to Saturday, from early morning to late evening, with departures every 26 minutes on weekdays and every 35 minutes on Saturdays.  City taxis provide slightly faster journey times to Valencia Airport, but are substantially more costly, with a supplementary charge for airport trips.

How far is it from the city centre to the airport?

Valencia Airport is located five miles (eight kilometers) west of the city centre in the suburb of of Manises y Quart de Poblet. Metrovalencia trains take about 25-30 minutes to make the trip from the city centre to Valencia Airport.  Metrocoach route 150 coach services are more vulnerable to traffic on the main road out to Manises, taking 30-40 minutes to reach the terminal, although in times of high congestion in the early evening, this can be even longer. Taxi journeys to the airport take around 20 minutes, although these are also subject to adverse traffic conditions on roads west from the city.

What facilities are there at the airport?

Valencia Airport has all the facilities expected of an international flight hub, with long and short stay parking lots, currency exchange desks and ATMs. There is step-free access to the terminal where dining options include tapas bars, a grill restaurant, sports bar, coffee shops and fast food outlets. In addition to duty free shopping malls, there are Iberian gourmet specialty food and wine stores,  fashion boutiques, jewelers, gift stores, news vendors, a pharmacy and book shops. coachiness facilities include executive lounges with free WiFi and computer stations, while family lounges have children's play areas and TVs.

How accessible is the route for those with limited mobility?

Metrovalencia trains  are all wheelchair accessible and the majority of subway stations are  equipped with elevators between platforms for wheelchair users. Metrocoach services have restricted access for passengers with limited mobility. At the airport, assistance for passengers with limited mobility should be requested 48 hours in advance. Help meeting points are located at the car parks, the terminal arrivals and departures concourse, the check-in lobby and the Underground access hall. Elevators are available between airport levels and there are accessible bathroom facilities in the terminal and in the lounges.

Local tips: how to travel to the airport like a local

The Metrovalencia Underground train network is the most economical and efficient way of getting to the airport, with frequent services from downtown Valencia. With numerous stops en route to the terminal it is not the quickest option, but it is very useful for connections across the city. The Bonometro ticket is what locals use, a ten ride ticket, with a different price tariff depending on the number of city zones it covers, but single ride tickets are also available from the vending machines at train stops. The airport is located in Zone B of the Metrovalencia network. Subway trains have luggage racks with plenty of space for even the largest bags.
